Two small quarto volumes; in the publisher’s green cloth bindings, with titling in gilt to the spines; [xvii], 594 pages; [xvi], 691 pages, including the Index, 12 pages of ads for Harper & Brothers publications; with an engraved frontispiece portrait in each volume; wear to the boards, particularly to the edges and top and bottom of the spine.~~The Nevins bibliography notes that “This work is highly laudatory of its subject and highly critical of Beauregard’s enemies. This may well be due to the fact that General Beauregard penned “a good part of the text”.~~~ (Nevins II, 86).
