The authors admit that “a rather novel arrangement of material has been made.” There are some preliminary materials to provide perspective and set the stage, but the body the work is given up to a virtually undigested patchwork of original accounts, most of them from the Federal viewpoint.”~~ (Krick 380 Nevins I p. 40).
