[SLAVERY] ENTRANCE TO FORT VERNON

The Royal African Company built Fort Vernon in 1742, in Ghana. The fort was destroyed by the Danes in 1783 but rebuilit by the British in the the 19th century. It’s original purpose was to facilitate the Atlantic slave trade. This stereoscope card is captioned: “One of the eighteen forts which resisted the invader at Verdun”.
