[DIARY] RECORD OF FEDERAL ATTORNEY

San Fransisco, CA: 1913.

1913 diary of an M. Curtis, who was a special agent for the federal government based in San Fransisco, CA. Curtis represented the US Forest Service in conflicts regarding homestead entries granted under the Homestead Act. He traveled frequently and wrote often about the cases he was working on as well as his interests when not working. He was fond of baseball and vaudeville, and often went out with an “M.V.”. Curtis often pasted small articles or ticket stubs from the events he witnessed or took part in. Address book in back. Mr. Curtis appears to have been a very professional man and his record would provide interesting context to legal cases relating to early 20th century homestead entries in the American west. ~~6 3/4” x 4 1/4” x 1” blue cloth lined book. Most of the pages are written in, although not consecutively. Excellently preserved.
