[NEALE IMPRINT] [PARODY] MOORE’S HISTORY THE STATES, UNITED AND OTHERWISE.
New York and Washington: The Neale Publishing Company, 1909.
Hard Cover. First Edition. Octavo; in the publisher’s mauve cloth with titling in gilt; 283 pages; there is a previous owner gift inscription on the front endpaper; there is some silverfishing to the binding but is a sturdy copy.~~Krick notes Moore’s preface: the volume is designed “to afford entertainment, without imposing a burden of information”; this is “admirably fulfilled” and the book has “absolutely no historical value”. [Krick 326]. It is however rather amusing: e.g.: “The biggest thing that happened within the term of President McKinley as the Spanish war. It would hardly be proper to speak of it as the war against Spain, for that would imply a contest, and everybody knows there was no contest (p. 117). (Krick 326).
Very Good binding.
