Sewn wrappers; 16 pages with later plain blue covers; the text is a description of the two-column continous distillation apparature.~~The Irishman, Aeneas Coffey, became Acting Inspector General of Excise for Ireland and in that capacity had a number of skirmishes with illegad distillers and smugglers, especially in the west of Ireland “where moonshining was most rife” [see wiki]. He was of the opinion that viable legal distillation was the answer to illegal practices. Hence, his invention of a newer and more efficient apparatus for distillation.~~We find no copies in commerce and no institutional holdings as of 1/29/2026~.
