Small 4to; rebound in full calf; with 5 raised bands and a burgundy morocco label with titling in gilt on the spine; (iii) 223 pages; with a single illustration in addition to a headpiece and several printer’s flowers; the pages are toned; with charming writings from previous owner’s throughout; an occasional ink smudge not affecting legibility; the last few leaves have some noticeable chips; a faint musty odor.~~A pastoral tragicomedy originally written in 1590 by Giovanni Battista Guarini in Italian; this is the first English translation by Richard Fanshawe (STC 2174).
