Small quarto; in the publisher’s blue cloth binding, lettered in gilt,, with printed dustjacket; xiv, [1], 1-289 pages, with map endpapers,a colored frontispiece, eight black and white plates by Carl Rungius as well as photographic illustrations, and folding map; the edition is limited to 750 copies of which this is number 747.~~Wegner notes the author’s frustration in hunting white tail deer: “I can honestly state that, next to sheep, I have put more time and effort in hunting white-tailed deer than any other animal, without having been successful in securing one fine specimen.”~~This Derrydale imprint is uncommon in the dustjacket.~~ (Siegel 53; Wegner, page 36).
