First Edition. 8vo.; in the publisher’s cream-colored cloth bindiing with titling and decorations in black, with dustjacket; 179 pages; the dustjacket has a small piece missing (about 3/8”) from the spine and some minor chipping to the edges; it has not been price-clipped (the original price is present but has been lined through with a new price penned below it); there is a previous owner name and address blindstamped to the front endpaper; there are no other ownership marks in the book.~~The true first edition of an important book, based the journal kept by Mr. Griffin as he traveled through the segregated south with his skin darkened to pass as a black man. The title is take from Langston Hughes’ poem Dream Variations.
