New York: The Neale Publishing Company, 1913.
Hard Cover. First Edition. 8vo.; in the publisher’s blue cloth binding with decoration in red and in gilt, and titling in gilt; 350 pages, with a frontispiece illustration of Oliver Norton, as well as photographs of Capt. Porter Farley of 140th New York, Strong Vincent; Col. He asserts that “the most worthwhile in the volume is in the form of unpublished letters and accounts, e.g. Porter Falery of the 140th New York provided a lengthy paper on his Gettysburg experiences”. ~~Eicher notes that the book “examines many secondary accounts, including those of William Swinton, Abner Doubleday, Francis A. Walker, Henry J. Hunt and William H. Powell.~~Nevins considers the account to be “exhaustive”.~~Quite a nice First Edition copy of an important book.~~ (Nevins I, 39; Eicher 93; Krick 356).
