Montague? granting permission to visit Petersburg, and who swears on the verso printed ?that I will bear true faith and yield obedience to the Confederate States of America and that I will serve there honestly and faithfully against their enemies.? t is signed by I. H. Harrington, who was provost marshal of Richmond during the Civil War.~~There is a small amount of loss to the pass, a hole of 3/8? and corner loss, neither affecting the text.~~C. W. Montague must have been a young man, as he is named as ?Master C. M. Montague?. We are offering another pass issued to him which describes as 15 years old.
