We expect that we will be down through March and hope to resume sending our weekly e-catalogues in April. At that time we will be open “by appointment only”. Until then our books will not be for sale. In the meantime, you can contact us by email at email@example.com.
New York: W. A. Townsend and Company, 1861.
Full Leather. First Edition. Quarto (10 1/2” x 8 1/4”); in the publisher’s full brown morocco binding with an elaborate border stamped in blind to the upper and lower boards, and titling in gilt; raised bands with blind stamping in compartments and titling lettered in gilt; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers; there is the beginning of separation (about 1/2”) at the top and bottom of the front gutter, though the boards are holding quite well; with 40 steel engravings, including the frontispiece and vignette title page, all protected with tissue guards; there are also vignette engravings on wood. Several leaves have minor off-setting from now removed leaves. ~~Overall, a nice copy of a handsome book. Beautifully illustrated excerpts from Cooper’s writings.
Very Good binding.
