(8 1/4” x 5 1/4”); in the publisher’s black cloth binding, with dustjacket; [vi], [2], 3-377 pages; the binding is “dusty” with some fade to the titling at the spine; there some minor loss to the cloth at the top edge of the front board; the dustjacket has loss to the top and bottom of the spine, just affecting the letter “C” in the title “Black”; there is a previous owner name on the front endpaper and a trace of ink residue on the front flap.~~“In April of 1942, Simon and Schuster publihsed the last of its three Cornell Woolrich novels, Black Alibi. It marked the first time the author had set a full-length work of fiction in Latin American since his 1930 autobiographical novel, A Young Man’s Heart.” [Johnson, I, 288] The third title in Mr. Woolrich’s “Black” series, and the basis for a noir film the next year, “The Leopard Man”. (Hubin (1979), 445; Johnson, Dark Page I, 288).
