[GOLF] [CALIFORNIA] [SCOTLAND] DIARIES AND JOURNALS OF JOHN FRASER HORN
Portland, Maine: Three BBB Bindery, 1930.
Full Leather. First Edition. 12mo. (7 1/8” x 5 1/4”); nicely printed diary specially bound in full green morocco, in a renaissance style, with titling in gilt, spine with raised bands and gilt lettering; marbled endpapers; 113 pages; pages mostly uncut.~~We can find little about John Fraser Horn; however, we find a gentleman by that name who obituary was in the New York Times, and noted that he was head of Utilities and Land Firm in Vandergrift, Pa. and died in 1938; at the age of 81; we deduce that the author of these diaries was his son, as the book is dedicated “To Father | with Affection | on the Occasion of his | Seventy-third Birthday | August 27, 1930.”~~The content appears to be records of travels in Scotland -- “lunch with Buchan” and in California -- “To Hal Roach Sturdio”. Mr. Horn must have been an avid golfer, as there are many references to the game.~~Uncommon curiosity. We know little of the author, and less of the bindery which made this pleasant production.
Very Good binding.
