The 11th Light Dragoons became the 11th (Prince Albert’s Own) Hussars in 1840, and adopted the uniform with “cherry” colored trousers, reflecting the livery of Prince Albert’s house, Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. They charged with the Light Brigade. Oil on board; 18” x 9”; framed.~~SERGEANT OF THE 24th FOOT, 1879. A Sergeant of the 24th Foot, (1879), an infantry regiment of the British Army which became the South Wales Borderers in 1881. Details of the uniform appear to be from the period of the Zulu War. Oil on board. 19” x 10 ½”an infantry regiment of the British Army which became the South Wales Borderers in 1881. Details the uniform from the appearance during the Zulu War. Oil on board, 19” x 10 1/2”; framed.~~The artist Colin Stanton has given careful attention to the details of the uniforms.
