In full burgundy morocco, heavily stamped in gilt in a scrolled pattern with roses, and decorative roll to the bevelled edges; the spine with raised bands and geometric decorations; the deep turn-ins with elaborate dentelles and marbled paper doublures matching the endpaper; the gilt edges of the textblock are gauffered.~~Bagster’s study Bible were printed in many editions and were popular throughout the 19th century. This 1849 edition has 14 maps colored in outline and a folding table of comparative chronology. There verso of the front endpaper and the front blank leaf are stained from the doublures as is the recto of the rear endpaper. ~~A most handsome mid-Victorian Bible. 24 x 19 cm.
