Pictorial Boards. A mid 19c elementary school primer, with an illustrated alphabet, breakdowns of syllables, morals told in verse, and other usual educational items. The content is suitably Puritan, with ‘Disobedience Punished,’ and ‘Idle Tom’ being two sample titles for the reading. The description on OCLC notes that “the same text was also published by George F. Cooledge as The Christmas Primer.” Text and wood-engraved illustrations printed in blue, with publisher’s advertisements used as endpapers, dating this to 1846. Foxing to the preliminaries. Minor wear to the boards. Quarter brick colored cloth over printed paper boards. 47, [1] pp.
