Singers’ Glen, Rockbridge Co., Va. Joesph Funk and Sons, 1860.
Hard Cover. Tenth Edition. Appropriately printed in Rockingham County’s Singers’ Glen, which was settled by publisher Joseph Funk in 1809 and is considered by some to the be the birthplace of Southern Gospel music as exemplified in Funk’s Harmonia Sacra. With shape notes. This is the Tenth Edition; all are uncommon.~~Oblong, in drab paper-covered boards, backed in black leather. There is corner loss to the rear boards. Each board is a rather delightful “franken-binding” with hand stitching to hold together breaks. Pencilled on the rear endpaper is the name “George Sugar | Sugar Grove | Pendleton County | West Virginia”.
