For three nights in 1939 there were performances of Johann Strauss’ “The Gypsy Baron” at Richmond’s Lyric Theatre. The 16 page program is chock full of ads for Richmond businesses. We note that the actual Programme -- listing the cast, the numbers in each act, the stage crew, etc. -- is scattered in small type throughout to keep the audience turning the pages to see the ads. Light stain to the front cover.~~The Lyric Theater stood at the southeast corner of East Broad and Ninth Streets in downtown Richmond. It was demolished in 1963.
