He believed that the early history of Virginia had not been accurately written and set out to correct what he believed were misconceptions with this work, among others. ~~An attractive First Edition copy in the publisher’s navy buckram, with titling in gold. With the name of M.V.E. Cabell, who was married to the author’s cousin William D. Cabell written on the endpaper of each volume and dated November 21, 1891. Mary Virginia Ellet Cabell was a founding officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution. (Howes B 828).
