Wear to the boards; foxing and toning throughout. ~~A bound copy of 26 issues of Niles’ Weekly Register, perhaps the most important weekly news magazine in this country during the first half of the 19th century. With “Sketches of the Barbary States in the early issues of this volume; an article on “The Sage of Monticello” (p. 317); an interesting account on why the flag of the United States should not be changed (p, 355); the captors of Major Andre; and much in the last couple of issues on the selection of a site for a Naval Depot around the Chesapeake Bay.
