First American Edition. The set in two volumes, each with a steel-engraved frontispiece, one of Napoleon Bonaparte, and the other of Joseph Bonaparte. In brown embossed cloth. The set belonged to William F. Ritchie, the son of Thomas Ritchie, editor of the Richmond Enquirer and he penned his name on the endpaper of each volume; William Ritchie also was for a time an Editor of the Enquirer.
