Hard Cover. First Edition. “A useful, but opinionated account of the Second Manassas campaign, by a Federal brigade commander; marred somewhat by the author’s hostility to Pope.” (Nevins II, 30). Complete with five folding plates, one of which is housed in the rear pocket. Closed tear to the top edge of the title page, and two of the folding maps repaired by a conservator using Japanese tissue along their folds. Hinges reinforced; Japanese tissue repair to the extremities of the spine, and bookplate on the front endpaper. Minor surface wear, and silverfishing to the rear board. Green cloth with gilt lettering. (Nevins I, 30).
