Second edition of Payen’s Handbook on distilling, brewing, and other 19c techniques for the crafting of alcohol. Payen was a French Chemist, best known for his discovery of the first enzyme, as well as new processes for producing borax, sugar, and alcohol. Text in German. With numerous in text illustrations and thirteen folding plates, not included in the First Edition of the work. Some staining to the plates along the gutter, from the binder’s glue. Hinges cracked but holding well. Fully rebound with black Japanese tissue over the tan leather boards. Original leather label laid down on the spine. OCLC notes only three institutional listing.
