Published in Richmond a year before the series of secessions which sparked the American Civil War, of particular interest is the section on laws specifically for people of color, either slave or free. Compiled and edited by Joseph Mayo, lawyer and mayor of Richmond, who would surrender the city to the Union Army. Some toning to the edges of the pages. A nice copy in calf, with a Black morocco label.
