Black Swan Books is TEMPORARILY closed in the aftermath of a “water event” in an adjacent building.
We expect that we will be down through March and hope to resume sending our weekly e-catalogues in April. At that time we will be open “by appointment only”. Until then our books will not be for sale. In the meantime, you can contact us by email at nick@blackswanbooks.com.

TURNER AND RUSKIN; AN EXPOSITION OF THE WORK OF TURNER FROM THE WRITINGS OF RUSKIN (2 Volumes)
London: George Allen, 1900.
Quarto. Hard Cover. First Edition. Two hefty quarto volumes, in the publisher’s blue cloth, with titling in gilt. There is scattered foxing throughout, though the plates are mostly clean; they are protected with tissue guards. Each volume has been partially rebacked, with discreet japanese tissue repair to the spines; there is old tape reinforcement to the hinges; the endpapers have darkened; on the pastedowns is the bookplate of American art critic Carleton Noyes. While the bindings have some minor wear and soiling, this is a sturdy and serviceable set.
Good binding.
