Hard Cover. An uncommon essay on Medical Ophthalmology by Wm. F. Norris. Dr. William Fisher Norris (1838-1901) was an esteemed pioneer in the field of ophthalmology. He served as a surgeon in the Civil War, later founding the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Ophthalmology, and authoring one of the first nationally recognized textbooks on the subject. The text is unmarked. A library plate on the front pastedown notes “from the library of the late Mrs. Wm. F. Norris.” Deaccessioned from an institutional library, with library card and slip pasted onto the rear endpaper. White library marks at the tail of the spine. Green cloth with gilt lettering. No institutional holdings noted on OCLC.
