A SHORT INTRODUCTION TO LATIN GRAMMAR, FOR THE USE OF THE UNIVERSITY AND ACADEMY OF PENSYLVANIA, IN PHILADELPHIA.

Exeter: J. Lamson, 1794.

Hard Cover. Sixth Edition. The Sixth Edition of the University of Pennsylvania’s Short Introduction to Latin Grammar. Lacking endpapers; pencil notations on the pastedowns. Minor stain to the top corner of the textblock, not affecting the text. 20th century rebinding, with a note on the laid-in bookbinder’s card: “see French’s Bookbinding in America for this type of binding.” This is likely referring to “Bookbindings in the Young Republic: Plain Bindings of the Period,” pp. 90-92. In this section, the author states that many schoolbooks and other ordinary, utilitarian bound works used no ornamentation whatever, and “the most inexpensive and durable materials available.” Crude linen cloth binding. Good. (Lehmann-Haupt; French; Rogers. Bookbinding in America. pp. 90-92. Evans 27701. ESTC W29419).

Very Good binding.
