Rather charmingly noted on the front cover: “A card: - The public is respectfully requested to send original poems in, to be set to music. Those to be published with be copyrighted by the composer, who will present 25 copies to the author of the verses. Rejected poems will not be returned. C. Nordendorf, Danville, Va.”. The lithographer was E. Crehen. Folded sheet, with the three songs printed on the verso of the cover, and the recto and verso of [3,4]. Only the first stanza was printed with each song; laid in, originally, was a broadside with the complete words for each song -- this broadside is lacking. This Danville imprint is an uncommon. (Parrish & Willingham, 6959).
