An old ex-library copy with remnants of a check out slip on the rear pastedown. There arettwo additional folding maps tipped in, at the front and rear of the book: 1. Battle Field of Winchester, VA, Prepared by G. I. Gillespie by order of Genl. Schenck, 1873; and 2. Petersburg and Five Forks by command of Brt. Major Genl. A. A. Humphreys, 1867. And with front., portraits, plates and maps. First published in 1870, this editions was “enlarged by additional biographical sketches and enhanced with five dozen illustrations” [Nevins I, 102]. In the publisher’s brown cloth which appears to have had some toning. (Nevins I, 102).
