A master eighteenth century French calligrapher, who helped elevate calligraphy’s standing by publishing works on the subject and presenting samples to King Louis XV. Titled “Ecritures, Contenant Seize Planches” on the first page of text. Complete with sixteen pages of text and sixteen engraved leaves; engraved title page and fifteen plates of calligraphic instruction and writing samples. Significant dampstaining to the top edge of the text throughout. Rebound in half red cloth over patterned paper, with a red cloth label on the front board.
