[PHOTOGRAPH] U.S.S. TRUMPETFISH GUPPY I

A mounted photograph (7 1/2” x 9 1/2”; on 9 1/2” x 10 1/2” captioned mount), along with a patch for the Trumpetfish attached at the top of the mount. The USS Trumpetish, a Balao class submarine was launched in May 1945 and in 1947 underwent a GUPPY (Greater Underwater Propulsive Power) conversion -- increasing her maximum submerged speed as well as offensive capabilities [cf. Trumpetfish SS-425; Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships; Navy Department, Naval History and Heritage Command]. On the back of the mount, in pencil and in pen, is what amounts to a service record beginning with USNR yearly cruises. Sept. 1948 at the USS Trumpetfish Guppy I (SS425).
