This volume with Hints respecting a Samaritan Society; Crimes and Punishments; Wills and Testaments;Female Benefit Club; a Village Society; Deaf and Dumb Children of the Poor; Employment of the Blind; the Monument erected to John Howard; establishing a Society for Promoting Useful Literature; Masters and Mistresses with respect to Female Servants; Religious Persecution; Humane Societies for the Recovery of Drowned Persons. All plates are present, including the numerous and appropriately Quakerish silhouettes of various medical luminaries. Previous owner's bookplate attached to front paste-down. Ex-university library bookplate attached to front endpaper. One-half brown leather and marbled boards; spine lettered in gilt. Moderate edgewear to boards with heavier wear at head and tail of spine. Small loss of leather at head of spine.
