A vivid account of the imprisonment of Federal officer James Fales, who was in command of Company F, First Rhode Island Cavalry, when he was captured in Middleburg, Virginia in 1863 and subsequently held in Richmond’s Libby Prison. The wrappers have some chipping and minor loss.
