COLUMBIAN CENTINEL (No. 2656; Boston, MA; Saturday September 16, 1809)

Boston: Columbian Centinel, 1809.

One large bifolium sheet printed on all four sides--page size is roughly 14” x 20”; the paper is still quite supple; some general edgewear; some early, faint water-staining; a fantastic snapshot of history with local and international news which includes updates from Europe in the midst of the Napoleonic Wars as well as classifieds; one interesting item, is the opening at the Boston Theatre of a “New Comedy Never Performed ... Man and Wife: Or ... More Secrets Than One.” Additionally, many notices of auctions for everything from “6 feather beds” to “twenty acres of excellent land, situate in Roxbury, on Muddy-Pond-Hill, (so called)”.

Very Good binding.
