Oblong Octavo. Full Leather. Previous owner's name written on front paste-down. No pencil or ink markings in text. Full brown leather binding. Moderate edgewear with heavier wear at head and tail of spine and at corners. One title page present but lacking illustrated title; otherwise complete. The first of a series of eight volumes of tunes printed over a period of twenty years. Important documentation of the role of Italian dancers in the London theaters during this period. Antonio Rinaldi [Fausan] and his wife were among the first. (Donald Burrows, The Cambridge Companion to Handel). Scarce, in an attractive contemporary binding.
